Responsibilities
General Accountability:
The AFE CATO Ramp Supervisor is responsible to effectively lead and direct one of the AFE Shift Ramp Teams as allocated by the Shift Coordinator . To achieve this, the Ramp Supervisor will work closely with a CATO Military Supervisor who will obtain a Load Plan for all aircraft to be loaded. With safety being paramount in all areas of work, the primary objective of the Ramp Team Leader is to control his Traffic Team whilst preparing, handling, and positioning aircraft loads; especially, while loading and unloading aircraft.
Structure:
The AFE CATO Ramp Supervisor reports directly to the AFE CATO Shift Supervisor and has up to 6 direct reports.
Dimensions:
The Ramp Supervisor is responsible for directing his team of Ramp Labourers, ensuring that each of his allocated aircraft are offloaded/loaded in a safe, professional, and expedient manner in line with all extant regulations.
Specific Accountabilities:
• Confirms, through the Shift Coordinator, that the correct equipment and manpower has been allocated to complete your task.
• Ensures that he receives a full brief and handover from the Cargo Staff on all aspects of the aircraft load and detailed familiarizing with any Load Plan provided.
• Ensures that he is familiar with the entire load and where possible, consolidates baggage and cargo pallets, ensuring that baggage pallet weights are passed to Passenger Control as soon as known,
• Ensures that load are correctly prepared IAW current regulations and will fit to the aircraft type/role prior to commencing loading bringing any concerns to the attention of the Shift Coordinator,
• Maintains full awareness of and applies all regulations relating to the movement and storage of all UN Classes of Dangerous Air Cargo (DAC), Items of a Secure or Classified nature and any other consignments requiring Special Handling.
• Briefs his Team in detail prior to proceeding to the aircraft allocating specific tasks and re-briefing as required,
• Ensures that all handling operations and marshalling procedures are undertaken in a safe and efficient manner and that restraint is applied IAW current regulations,
• Ensures the upkeep and daily preventative maintenance of all CATO ACHE / MHE is carried out routinely and correctly,
• Informs the DAMO, via the Shift Supervisor, of any flight safety loading / unloading issues that might lead to a delay the aircraft or contravene Health and Safety procedures,
• Records and passes statistics to the Shift Supervisor for each aircraft handled,
• Maintains a safe, clean, and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) free working environment,
• Ensures similar clean and healthy standards are applied to office areas and crew-rooms,
• Adheres to and promote Health and Safety rules and regulations in the workplace,
• Maintains AFE staff welfare and discipline.
• Carries out Authorised Requestor duties
• Carries out Authorised Escort duties
• Completes Shift start up briefs.
• Completes Toolbox Talks
• Deputizes for the Shift Supervisor, if required, and
• Completes any other relevant duties as directed by AFE CATO Shift Supervisor.

• Split Loader (FMC / Main Base Transfer Loader)
• K Loader (Military Pattern Transfer Loader)
• Forklift Counterbalance up to 10,000kgs capacity
• Forklift Telescopic
• Four by Four truck
• Tractor tug
• Aircraft Air Stairs Self propelled
• Baggage Conveyor Belt Self Propelled
• Military Pattern Hand Held Radios
Educational and Experience Desired:
• NATO Secret Clearance Required.
• Valid CAA or FAA DG Operators certificate
• Valid operator’s license for ACHE / MHE
• Drivers license
• First aid
• Fire fighting indoctrination
• 2 years experience within an airport or similar environment.
• NATO level 3333 in English or equivalent.
• Knowledge of commodities in order to recognize materials requiring special handling (e.g. hazardous materials, etc.) and refer them to the appropriate section for action.
• Basic understanding of Military (NATO) Radio (Rx/Tx) procedures.
• Understanding of the NATO Phonetic Alphabet.
• Excellent interpersonal communications skills and leadership skills.
• Able to work in a multi-cultural team.

This is demanding position requiring the incumbent to work in an environment of conditions varying between exceptionally hot and dusty to temperatures below freezing. The incumbent will be physically fit and able to work continuously in these extreme conditions.
